RIP Andy

It was Andy Privett (né Gardner)'s funeral in Nottingham on Thursday. I hitched a lift with Simon (thanks Simon) and, with Helen and Gavin, we sort of formed the City of London Anti-Apartheid Group delegation. I was really pleased to be able to go and it was a joy to see how many lives he had touched during his time in Nottingham, and how many people from those campaigns — Nottingham Uncut, Occupy Nottingham, Nottingham UAF and so on — came along to pay their respects to this big-hearted, flamboyant, fearless giant. It was a long sad wonderful day. The music chosen for his funeral included a Liza Minelli number which I cannot remember the title of, Judy Garland doing Somewhere Over The Rainbow and Shirley Bassey's version of I am What I Am which has been repeating on me ever since. Tune or what, eh?

  1. The Minnelli tune was "Maybe This Time" from Cabaret, another fine ditty

  2. Thanks bub, much obliged, (you know a lot about Liza Minelli somehow).
